Windows to the Soul

Everyone knows the proverb that the eyes are the window to the soul. This saying arguably goes back to Biblical times. If our peepers are so important then I want mine to look fabulous! I've been really obsessed with eye makeup lately and I want to shake up my routine. On Monday my husband and I went and saw the new Woody Allen film "Midnight in Paris" with Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams and Marion Cotillard. The whole time I was so inspired by the smoky eye makeup on Cotillard that I want to try it out soon. I liked how it was done with browns when I am so used to using blacks and grays to achieve this look. My own follow-up coming soon. My excuse is that I am a stay at home mom and I want to spend my time on this when I am actually going somewhere besides Target. Anyway, check out "Midnight in Paris" and lets have fun with eye makeup!

I Got Crabs

True story: My sister and I walked into my parents' family room and told my dad that I have crabs. I asked him if he wanted to see them and he looked disgusted and said, "uhh noooo." I walked over and showed him my toes and frankly I couldn't believe my dad thought I had crabs the STD! Haha wow. Anyway, the whole point of this post is to take a few risks when you visit your pedicurist. Honestly I WAS a little nervous to ask someone to paint a crab on my toes because A. It is a little bit of a weird request and B. There is a liiiiiittle bit of a language barrier at most nail places in CA. At any rate, I got what I wanted which was a little bit of nautical chic on my toes :)

Sock it to ya!

I'm loving wearing nylon socks with my heels! It's such a fun way to dress up. I got this French Curve brand pair from a boutique in the University Mall in Orem, UT. I wore them with an a-line skirt and frilly blouse. I have a black pair too with little black swiss dots on them that I plan to wear with my patent leather, gray mary janes. Fabulous!

Eyes Encumbered

You know that old beauty trick of putting cucumbers on your eyes to reduce swelling and decrease dark circles? Well either it doesn’t work or I’m allergic to cucumbers. Not only did it make my eyes MORE swollen, but they also have swollen splotches! It’s safe to say I will not be venturing out in public today. I have shamelessly attached a picture of my eye. It’s all in the name of research, right? RIGHT? Be warned that it is not for the weak hearted! The second picture is of me trying to ice my eyes with a face mask; my sister would say the mask is so that, “you can rob and relax at the same time!” Oh, how she amuses me…

groooossss!
*yawn* Gimme all your money!

I got nailed.

I think I have a new obsession: Sally Hansen Nail Polish Strips. It looks like nail polish, it smells like nail polish, it IS nail polish! But the work is already done for you. Super easy to apply; they kind of "Cure" overnight so I recommend applying before bed. Then, wake up in the morning and say to yourself, "Hello gorgeous!" Orrr something like that... The pictures I've posted are after a whole week of wear. I choose 360 Laced Up. Sexy, no?

p.s. NO. I am not getting any commissions for this post. haha

The Emerald City

OK, after a ridiculous long amount of time, I finally am back to blogging. How could I not be inspired by the bejewled beauties of the Golden Globes. And I've gotta say, I am green with envy! I just loved the emerald green numbers (as worn above). I'm also ashamed to say (as an avid wearer/promoter of the color pink) that I liked the green gowns much better than all the boring nudes and pinks. The only exception is Eva Longoria's totally FIERCE black Zac Posen gown. (from left to right--Mila Kunis in Vera Wang, Catherine Zeta-Jones in Monique Lhuillier and Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace.)
